Reverend Billy is made of Awesome. Pretty sure it's partly and act, of course, to seem over-the-top and all, but hopefully his heart is in the right place.
This documentary is also by Morgan Spurlock, the dude who did "Super-size Me", which is great. I love Spurlock's work.

I just watched this movie. It's not really religious, its about social change. They are sort-of a traveling comedy act that tries to raise awareness of over-consumption.
Over-consumption IS a big issue in this country. Our buying habits either support or oppose horrible working conditions in other countries--depending on where we choose to spend our paychecks. President Carter spoke about consumerism as one of the causes of the US economic recession in the 1970's.

Thanks for twisting my comment beyond all recognition. I find religious retards exorcizing Wal-mart signs repugnant, so obviously that means I am in favor of genocide and Imperialism. Clearly I was just so offended because of my undying love for capitalism and nihilism.
I'm not even sure if these people are a real church or not, but I'm not laughing because consumerism is creating a new religious revival. And religion will never stop consumerism, it will only be a palliative for it.

I understand your critique... but the Church of Stop Shopping is an activist performance group promoting economic justice, environmental protection, and anti-militarism... I think it's important to be open to creative forms of anti-capitalism, especially ones that are capable of reaching the masses.
