I'll never forget reading about the Edmund Fitzgerald in the National Geographic mag. years ago. They found the ship and sent submersibles down there to explore it. Once they did that and pulled up artifacts and were leaving they left a can of budweiser beer in one of the watchman lookouts for Ranson Cundy. He was a watchman for the ship and his daughter said he loved his beer and they left a can can down there for her dad. AWESOME!
Aweigh!!
dad was chief engineer basil white on either s.s.mkeesons or mv buffalo, when the Fitzgerald went down.they had received distress signals but couldnt reach her in time.i was just a kid,but watching this really chokes me up,it could have been him.he was in that same storm.anyway thanks for the tribute.
When I first heard of the Edmund Fitzgerald
broke my heart to think of the loss of life
aboard that brave ship.
And when I heard Gordon Lightfoot's tribute
song I almost fell down from the shock.
He is a modern day troubador.
This song is a classic for the ages...
As I'am from Germany, I didn't understand the meaning of this song. My roommate Brain from Chicago told me the whole story!
He's a big Gordan Lightfoot fan!
I'll never forget this night, we've both taken a lot of beer and we've listening to this song serval times. He told told me the whole sad story. A few days later I've been in a car, close to the Lake Erie! Listening this song! Thanks Brian!
Rest in Peace.
Tony
