Barack Obama is NOT promoting Socialism. Marxism and Socialism is about TOTAL State control of capital. Controls the flow of capital and removes "wealthy" individuals from participating in the market system. In communism&Socialism the market place is in totally in control of the market. Read Adam Smith's book - 'The Wealth of Nations' read the chapter when he introduces the concept of 'invisible hand'. Obama's political INDIRECT connections are irrelevant. The fact is that the economic empowerment of the people guarantees less abortions! When the people are empowered the social problems will no longer exist or will be less. The empowerment of the people allows less funds to Law enforcement also because they would be bothered with prostitution or other crimes.

If you think this the U.S. capitalism, you are really deluded. In capitalism, no failing bank or car manufacturer would bailed out. They would fail for just making bad judgments. There wouldn't be a Federal Reserve to create excessively easy credit, that everyone can get, no matter what their financial standing is, to cause the inflation in the various markets that inevitably has to correct and crash.

The U.S has a capitalist economy; it's just not the "free-market" ideal, but I guess in practice it's different from in theory. It's also important to understand there are different forms of capitalism, and the U.S mixed economy still falls under the "capitalist" label.

And this is absurd, labeling the U.S as "socialist". It isn't socialist until most of the economy is either employee or state-owned/run. Bailing out private corporations, even through nationalizing them with the intention to sell them in the future is certainly not socialism. I suggest you educate yourselves on what socialism actually is.

Most of Western Europe was not socialist in the traditional sense, they had a social market economy (inspired by both conservatives and social democrats) and social democratic tax-funded welfare states. Some countries had some nationalized industry, but most of that has been privatized now as the world turns towards neo-liberalism. Socialism means state OR employee-owned, run/managed or funded. Social welfare and government spending does not mean socialism.
