Actually I have to disagree. Throughout the guitar battle Eugene Martone/Ralph Macchio did exactl pretty much the same things that steve vai did... He did did keep up... but because this is a artificial guitar duel... the director and producers would want Eugene to come from behind and take the cake... It's just a type of suspense in movies...

Yeah he did well to keep up, and it was a movie... I do not think if it were to be recreated in reality that his ending would suffice to win the duel.

Ok for everybody. Steve Vai plays his solo. Ry Cooder plays Ralph Macchio part exept the classical part at the end of the duel. That part is also done by Vai. Ry Cooder also made the musical score of the movie. Cooder made countless movie score including the famous Paris Texas of Wim Wenders. I highly recommend that album for every slide guitar lover.
