Let me say I am surprised by all the "one is better than the other" comments regarding Gordon Lightfoot's original version of this song. It is not about which is better. They are both very different versions with different meanings and both can co-exist. Of course, Gordon Lightfoot's version is the best version because he wrote it. Johnny made it his own in this version and it was real and meaningful for him when he sang it. Johnny recorded this one not long before he died and he made it his own as he did with "Hurt".
Not sure if the song and pics go together, but when I hear him singing this, I can only imagine him singing it about his wife June who had passed away just before he recorded this. He had a knack of taking songs and making them his own and that's what he did with this one. I got the pictures off the web and, for me, they seemed to go with the song well.

Yes, I do know that. I also believe that although Johnny knew that too, he took the song and made it his own like he did with other songs. If you read my description, I said that. It's clear to me that Johnny was thinking of June when he sang this song. I like Gordon Lightfoot too.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I truly appreciate it. The reason I left the vid up w/o sound is that if you have the song on your computer, you can play it while watching the vid - then it works as it should.
