Please read Rick's autobiography "Confessions of a Super Freak". Rick did know every aspect of the business, learned from the bottom up starting as a teenager, and produced numerous acts and was wildly successful at it. He was also in a band with none other than Neil Young when still in his teens. The one big advantage Prince had over Rick was his disinterest in, and abstinence from, drugs and alcohol, which were ultimately Rick's downfall and why he is no longer with us.

Rick was not only an amazingly talented musician, singer, producer, writer, etc., but he had that rare ability to draw both sexes to him...women wanted wanted to be with him, men wanted to hang out with him and be his buddy...he just drew people to him with his incredible charisma. ~*R.I.P. Rick*~

I never seen o read Prince mention him, but he surley did a cool Rick James homage in his Musicology tour, sad that Rick James wanned to get attention this way, they both talented but Prince is defently a genius and... cocaine's a hell of a drug.

Prince is a Jehova Witness Diva. Certainly not personable nor the guy you would like to hang out with...on the other hand Rick James is the real deal.
Most people can relate to Rick more than Prince.
Prince is just like most short guys who have a napoleon complex.
Who wants to be around that?
Prince can rock, but he's a real dick personally.
