no the only similatities between them are their grungey singing voices. pom play mainstream lyrics, while nirvanas lyrics were "very" different. there was a different style of riffs too. pom go for the hard rockish stuff while nirvana had repetative, yet addictive sounds.

actually in the begining nirvana had a heavy sound to them also, and album after album they started getting catchy, pom started hard and wat do u know the are starting to get catchy. hmm i think that they are a whole lot more alike than u think

doesnt nessesarily mean theyre copying. its called taking influence, showing appreciation and carrying on a loved style of music. theres a limit to originality. there are only so many ways you can do something before it looks/sounds the same as something else.
nirvana are awesome, but they arent the only band worthy of doing what they did

dude Puddle of Mudd is post-grunge. Not saying they arent good, but they do wanna be alot like nirvana. Kinda like godsmack wants to be like alice in chains. They're still unique but in a way they wish they were still in the grunge age.

what im tryin to say is yeah they are both grunge and and yeah nirvana is obviousley a big influence on pod but just compare the messages their songs have. they couldnt be farther apart (in a lyrical aspect). compare the lyrics from come as you are to drift and die.
