This is a sample of my Hurricane Wilma storm chase video. The footage was taken during the peak of the storm on the Southwest Florida coast in Belle Meade, near Marco Island. Peak winds occur after the lull, associated with the passage of the storm's eye, and are near 100mph with gusts to 120mph.

To all you folks who've never been through a hurricane and intend to visit any place that a hurricane can hit: ff a warning is issued, I hope you don't do like some and figure it would be interesting to experience one in person. Don't be jackasses. LEAVE. These things KILL. They are NOT tourist attractions.

Wilma was cat 3 at landfall and most of south FL. Experianced cat 2 winds with the cat 3 winds going South of most population and into the everglades if im not mistaken

i live in North Lauderdale, i been surived ten days when i was about 16 yrs old. i am diabetic and i has insulin from fridge they got no power. insulin must be cold that help sugar blood normal. we dont have ices. my parent was nightmare worried alot, there no phone, no help etc. after the hit hurricane later three or four days, finally the military has been showed up they carried out ices and water. i was likely almost death. its pretty lucky

Hi Katya. Yeah, at 1:03 that is right at the end of the calm associated with Wilma's eye. Passage of the eye over my area had started about 45 minutes prior (when it was still totally dark). Right around daybreak the winds started picking up again and it wasn't long before the western eyewall moved over the area.

Man. Good footage. I've always wanted to chase severe storms since I was a kid,specifically tornadoes. The hurricanes seem a little to chaotic. What kind of structure can you be in to witness this and still be safe. Brick? Cement?
